Safer, Stronger Communities

Our Safer, Stronger Communities team is all about ensuring communities, families and individuals are safe in their home and in their local area.

The team works in partnership with a range of organisations, including West Yorkshire Police, health agencies, criminal justice services, the third sector and other council services.  This collaborative work leads to a range of exciting opportunities across this service, and no two days are ever the same.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) is a concern for many residents, so finding solutions to the problems it causes is one of our top priorities.  ASB case officers work in communities and focus on improving the lives of everyone who lives in Leeds by supporting efforts to co-deliver local solutions.

Colleagues on our Prevent team connect counterterrorism policing, neighbourhood policing and communities and work alongside internal and external partners to deliver local Prevent actions plans to divert vulnerable individuals away from radicalisation.

CCTV is key to keeping the city safe.  Our operators in the city’s control room provide a link to the emergency services, helping to detect and eliminate crime and anti-social behaviour in communities and provide access to some out of hours council services.

Leeds has one of the busiest night-time economies in the country and a thriving student population.  City centre liaison officers sit within our street support team and are high visibility patrols who are key to effective partnership working between our partner agencies and retailers whilst providing public reassurance.

Out in local communities, our area-based localities teams address health and social inequalities in the city and community safety priorities.  The work is varied and requires the ability to: work at pace with competing priorities, motivate key stakeholders, achieve successful outcomes and be able to implement change through innovative collaboration.

Our team members are responsive to local needs and committed to creating thriving, resilient communities across Leeds. If your values align with ours and you like the sound of working with a wide range of partners and members of the community, we might be the right fit for you.

Our colleagues say:

Fahad, Project Officer (Resettlement & Grants)
